Philipsburg:- On October 6th, JCI SXM A.C.T.I.O.N (St. Maarten Aspiring Change To Impact Our Nation) has successfully elected it’s new Board for the year 2022 at Holland House.
The Local Board for the year 2022 will consist of the Incoming officers as follow: President Elvis Lewis, Secretary Angelina Williams, Treasurer Thurgood Watson, Vice President Shirley Hilarie,Vice President Sebastien Lewis and Immediate Past President Ravina Claudius.
The completion of 2021 will mark the first official year for the return of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) in the community of St. Maarten under the National Organization; JCI Dutch Caribbean. The chapter has restarted it’s activities to provide development opportunities for young people between the ages of 18-40, just after Hurricane Irma in 2018 under the fierce leadership of its current President Ravina Claudius and her team ( Anjeanee Mathew, Wesley Holder, Elvis Lewis, Oneida Arrindell and Jiana Arthur). The membership is consisted of young professionals from diverse career backgrounds and have opened up it’s registration to young active citizens of St. Maarten studying abroad. The organization is proud to have sons and daughters of the soil contributing back to the community despite being away from home.
On October 14th, just after the local Election, the St. Maarten delegation consisting of three (3) members: Incoming President Elvis Lewis, Incoming Treasurer Thurgood Watson and Current Vice President Anjeanee Mathew, travelled to Willemstad, Curacao to attend the annual National Convention at which the JCI Dutch Caribbean celebrated 60 years of existence. At this event, the members attended the Leadership and Development Academy, represented JCI SXM ACTION at the debate competition, Public Speaking Competition and build added skills through trainings/workshops: Creative Negotiations, How to Grow Skills for the future, Boosting Team Performance and ended successfully with the Election of the 2022 National Board and Awards ceremony. During the Award ceremony, JCI SXM A.C.T.I.O.N was awarded Best New Local Organization.
In 2022, the incoming board strives to continue to make impact in Individual development, Business Development, Community Development and increase in Internationalism.
